What I Replace During Prime Day (And Why)
I don’t use Prime Day to buy things I don’t need.
Instead, I use it as a reminder to replace the everyday items that get used constantly throughout the year. Many of these things wear out gradually, so it’s easy to forget how much better they work when they’re fresh, clean, and in good condition.
Rather than chasing every deal, I focus on replacing practical household items that make daily life a little easier.
Kitchen
Cutting Boards
Cutting boards are one of the hardest-working items in any kitchen. Over time they develop deep knife grooves, stains, and odors that can be difficult to remove. Prime Day is often when I check whether it’s time to replace the boards I use most often.
Helpful Tool: Cutting Board Set
Kitchen Towels
Kitchen towels get washed constantly and eventually lose their absorbency. Fresh towels make everyday cleanup easier and help keep the kitchen looking tidy.
Dish Towels
Dish towels work hard drying dishes, wiping counters, and cleaning up spills. If yours are looking worn or no longer drying well, Prime Day can be a good time to refresh them.
Pot Holders
Pot holders and oven mitts are easy to overlook until they start showing wear. Heat protection is one area where I don’t mind replacing items before they completely wear out.

Dish Brushes
Dish brushes eventually lose their bristles and cleaning power. Replacing them regularly makes washing dishes easier and often more sanitary.
Measuring Cups and Spoons
Measuring tools seem to disappear one piece at a time. If you’re constantly searching for the right size, replacing the set can save frustration every time you cook or bake.

Steak Knives
A good knife makes meal preparation easier, safer, and more enjoyable. If your knives no longer hold an edge well, Prime Day can be a good opportunity to upgrade or replace them.
Bedroom
Sheets
Few things feel better than a fresh set of sheets. Over time fabrics thin, fade, and lose their softness. Prime Day is often when I check for replacement sets.
Pillows
Pillows don’t last forever. If they’re flat, lumpy, or no longer comfortable, replacing them can make a noticeable difference in sleep quality.
Mattress Protector
A mattress protector quietly does its job every day. If yours has seen better days, replacing it can help protect your mattress and keep your bed feeling fresh.

Charging Station
Nightstand chargers and charging stations get used every day. Prime Day is a good time to replace older chargers or upgrade to something that keeps devices organized and ready to use.

Bathroom
Bath Towels
Bath towels gradually lose softness and absorbency. Replacing them every few years can make a surprising difference in your daily routine.
Hand Towels
Hand towels often show wear before larger towels because they’re used so frequently. A fresh set can instantly make a bathroom feel cleaner and more inviting.
Washcloths
Washcloths are one of the easiest and most affordable bathroom items to replace. Keeping a fresh supply on hand is always worthwhile.
Electric Toothbrush Heads
Replacement brush heads are one of the easiest household items to forget until they need replacing. Most manufacturers recommend changing them regularly to maintain cleaning performance, so Prime Day is often when I check whether it’s time to restock.
Helpful Tool: Sonicare Electric Toothbrush Replacement Heads
Be sure to choose replacement heads that are compatible with your specific toothbrush model.
Shower Curtain Liner
Shower liners can discolor or develop mildew over time. Replacing them regularly helps keep the bathroom looking fresh and clean.

Non-Slip Tub Mat
Safety items deserve attention too. A non-slip tub mat helps reduce slips and falls while making showers more comfortable.

Bath Rug
Bathroom rugs see a lot of foot traffic. If yours has lost its cushioning or absorbency, Prime Day can be a great time for a simple refresh.
A Simple Prime Day Strategy
Prime Day doesn’t have to be about buying more things. Sometimes it’s simply a good opportunity to replace the items you already use every day.
Instead of filling your cart with impulse purchases, consider walking through your kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom and making a short list of items that have earned a replacement. Small upgrades to everyday essentials can often make a bigger difference than buying something new.
Gigi Says
The best purchases are often the least exciting. Fresh towels, comfortable pillows, a sharp kitchen knife, or a cutting board that isn’t worn out won’t make headlines, but they’re the things we use every single day. Prime Day is one of the few times each year when I take stock of the basics and replace what no longer works as well as it should.
